Fives Aluminium Filtration technologies Sohar-FIVES

Treatment plants supplied by Fives are equipped with optimized and robust filters. According to customers’ needs and plant location, Fives supplies three types of filter modules: Ozeos, TGT-RI and Vibrair.

The Ozeos filter module is the latest technology developed by Fives. 

Technical features

The Ozeos module is a large-capacity filter with a compact footprint equipped with enhanced alumina handling. Gases velocity inside the filter reactor has been dramatically reduced, therefore limiting abrasion and scales for a longer bags lifetime. This state-of-the-art technology, which offers high durability, enables to reach unequaled levels of HF and dust emissions.

In comparison with benchmark technologies, Ozeos allows:

  • Emissions levels lower by 20%
  • GTC electricity consumption reduced by 5%
  • Less maintenance and easy access
  • A better balance between effectiveness and size

Thanks to the significant improvements achieved in terms of environmental, human and operational performance, the Ozeos filter module has been awarded the Fives Engineered Sustainability label in 2014.

The TGT-RI filter module is the most widespread reference among all filter modules.

Technical features

One of its main features is the integration of the reactor inside the filter module to obtain an optimal distribution of alumina and gases as well as a smaller footprint. The design of the reactor provides a homogeneous coating of alumina on filter bags for a longer bag life and an optimized capture of HF and dust emissions.

TGT-RI, a high efficient technology:

  • Perfectly adapted for GTCs with high requirements (gas flowrates up to 2,500,000 Nm3)
  • Suitable in all climate conditions

More than 3,200 high amperage pots are equipped with TGT-RI filters worldwide.

The Vibrair filter is very robust and renowned for its low maintenance needs.

Technical features

The filter media is composed of filter sleeves that are gently cleaned by reverse air instead of compressed air. This mode of cleaning provides a very long bag life (6 years in typical cases and up to 8 years at some smelters). In very cold climates, this cleaning mode can be preferred to pulse cleaning that requires dry compressed air.
